FAQ

These are the questions that we are always asked by prospecive adopters and supporters alike. If the answer to your burning question cannot be found below, please do not hesitate to contact us on pawsporthcawl@hotmail.com or please ask one of our resident dogs using the form at the bottom of the page.

01

How much does it cost to rehome a dog?

We ask for a donation of at least £100 to cover all the costs associated with keeping the dogs in kennels and all veterinary costs. PAWS is a not for profit charity and all funds go back into the charity to help more animals.

02

Will the dog be neutered and up to date with immunisations?

Absolutely! All dogs that we rehome are neutered to avoid any unwanted puppies. In addition, all dogs that leave PAWS are fully vaccinated and are kept up to date with all fleeing and worming treatments. If you want to keep up with the same brands and treatments that we use advice can be provided in this regard. In addition, we ensure that all dogs are microchipped when leaving PAWS.

03

If I encounter any problems after adoption can I still contact you?

Whilst we endeavour to rehome all of our dogs with suitable owners, we appreciate that it takes a lot of patience with some dogs and that sometimes adoptions don't work out. If any adopters experience behavioural problems with their dogs or are faced with a situation where they are no longer able to care for the dogs, all adopters are encouraged to contact PAWS as we are more than willing to take dogs back in.

04

Do PAWS rehome dogs to homes with children?

Yes! We rehome dogs to homes with children of all ages as long as the dog is suitable for that environment. We will discuss your circumstances and undertake home visits prior to adoption. We will try to determine if the dog you're interested in will be suitable for your home, family and other pets.

05

How long does it take to adopt a dog from PAWS?

Rehoming from PAWS is a quick but thorough process. Once you contact us, we aim to reply to you within 24 hours and arrange for you to come and see the dog. We will then arrange to come and visit you at home within a couple of days. After the home visit and providing you pass, we will arrange for the dog to be made available for collection within a few days. This is designed to be a rough guide and individual cases can take longer.
